The Society of American Military Engineers hosted the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math camp July 23-28 at Scott AFB, Illinois. High school students from across the country were given the opportunity to participate in a week full of activities, which included building water bottle rockets, cardboard canoes, dog houses and learning about different types of engineering.
Local law enforcement participate in an active shooter exercise July 24, 2018, at Whiteside Elementary School, Belleville, Illinois. By developing and rehearsing a comprehensive active shooter plan, leadership can better protect their employees from an active shooter incident.

Joint force members from six bases performed static-line and free-fall jumps over the Scott Air Force Base drop zone July 18, 2018. The Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape specialists execute this training to maintain their readiness. The 375th Operations Support Squadron created the drop zone to increase the readiness of units in and around Scott AFB and for use by flying and ground units who need a place to hone their combat skills. These jumps give Scott AFB personnel and airlift crews practical, live training on how to safely and effectively execute jump operations.

The 375th Security Forces Squadron enlists the help of Military Working Dogs to keep the base safe. There is a lot of work that goes into these four-legged heroes. A significant portion of which goes into establishing bond between K-9 and handler. Check out this video of Staff Sgt. Christopher O'Brien and his K-9, Irk, to see why these guardians are man's best wingman.
