Pilot for a day returns to Scott
Capt. Kyle Mattie, 375th Operation Support Squadron, explains to Jared Anderson and his family how air traffic controllers were trained prior to using a flight simulator during his visit for the Pilot for a Day program July 7, 2011 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Jared, who is diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, was nominated to come to Scott and be a pilot for a day. The program gives seriously ill children a close up look at the Air Force. His day consisted of multiple events and tours to include a C-21A taxi ride, a military working dog demonstration, fire department demonstration, and a ride in a flight simulator.
