ASSUMPTION OF COMMAND - 7 JUL

CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY - 8 JUL
On behalf of the commander, 375th Air Mobility Wing, you are invited to attend the Change of Command ceremony at which Col. Terry Ward will relinquish command and Col. BELLEVILLE GATE CLOSURE - 11 JUL
Recently, traffic data was collected from the Belleville Gate which indicates that from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. traffic entering the installation through this gate is extremely limited. Effective 11 July, the Belleville Gate will be closed from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Mon-Sun. When the Belleville Gate is closed, the Shiloh Gate will be the only gate used for base entry and exit. Please ensure all family members and guests are made aware of this new schedule. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Security Forces at 256-2931.

AFGLSC CHANGE OF COMMAND - 22 JUL
The AFGLSC Change of Command will be 22 July at the Scott Club starting at 10 a.m. Maj. Gen. Gary McCoy will relinquish command to Brig. Gen. H. Brent Baker. Immediately following the change of command will be Maj Gen McCoy's retirement ceremony. Both ceremonies will be presided over by the Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Gen. Donald Hoffman.

ENERGY TIP OF THE WEEK
At any one time in most households an average of 8 appliances are left on stand-by. In the average household the TV is left on stand-by for more than 17 hours a day. If you do nothing else switch off the lights! The next energy conversation with the 375th AMW commander is 4 Aug in the 375th Wing Conference Room from 4 to 6 p.m. All are invited to attend.

FIRST FRIDAY BLOCK PARTY - 8 JUL

AERO CLUB SAFETY SEMINAR - 9 JUL
The Scott AFB Aero Club/Flight Training Center will be hosting their monthly Safety Seminar at MidAmerica Airport Terminal 9 July from 0900 to 1300. This seminar will be offering a Take Off and Landing Clinic. Several local flight schools will be present to provide rental aircraft with complimentary instructor time to give you the opportunity to schedule a proficiency flight to receive evaluation of your takeoff and landing skills. SPECIAL NEEDS FIELD DAY EVENT - 9 JUL
Parents, children and siblings are welcome to come to the Youth Center from 1230-1330 to learn about individual skills in sports while having fun in a relaxed environment. All outings are free and meant for the whole family. For more information, call Airman & Family Readiness Center, 256-8668.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) -11-15 JUL
The Scott AFB Chapel will host VBS for all children Pre-School through 6th grade. VBS will run daily July 11-15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is open; call 256-3935 or e-mail andrea.beringer@scott.af.mil for more information. Volunteer leaders, ages 16 and up, are still needed. Nursery program available for volunteers.

KICKBALL TOURNAMENT - SIGN UP BY 11 JUL
The James Sports Center is hosting a kickball tournament 15-17 July. Teams may consist of 5, 7 or 11 male/female players to a team (5 teams are needed to hold this event). Start time will be 1730. Event is open to all Active Duty, Reserve, Air National Guard, Retirees, DOD Civilians & Dependents (age 18 & older - ID card holders only). For more information, call 256-4524.

FAMILY BOWLING & BOOK NIGHT - 11 JUL
The Library and Stars & Strikes Bowling Center staff will be hosting a Family Bowling and Book Night 11 July from 1830 to 2000. For only $5 a person, participants can enjoy one and a half hours of bowling, unlimited soda, storytelling, videos, games and more! Special prizes will be included. SPOUSE PRE DEPLOYMENT BRIEFING - 12 JUL
This is a new program being offered to strengthen family resiliency by attendees awareness of support services available to the spouse/family prior to the member deploying. Provides information concerning the important role the spouse/family plays during the deployment. 1830-2000, Airman & Family Readiness Center.

HEARTLINK - 13 JUL
Heartlink is a fun way for spouses to learn valuable information about military benefits and entitlements, protocol, finances, the mission and the many agencies and resources that are available to military families. Have lunch on us and network with other spouses. Childcare is reimbursed for those who attend. 0800-1430, Airman & Family Readiness Center.

AF BALL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - 15 - 16 JUL
World Shooting Competition Volunteers are needed to work on behalf of the Air Force Ball Committee. We will be serving youth in a fun and competitive atmosphere by loading clays and scoring contests 15-16 July. Off-duty hours in Sparta, Ill., will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for both days. Training tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. 7-8 July and 2:30 p.m. 11-12 July at the Base Rod and Gun Club. For more information, contact Lt. Cherie Kail cherie.kail.1@us.af.mil.

DORM LUAU - 16 JULY
A luau for Airmen who reside in the dorms is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. July 16 at the dorm pavilion by the basketball courts. There will be food, music and prizes. Also, there'll be 3-on-3 basketball, limbo, best dressed and "Call of Duty" contests. The event is sponsored by the Scott First Sergeants Council.

SPECIAL NEEDS CARNIVAL - 16 JULY

The Exceptional Family Member Program and Youth Center will host a Special Needs Carnival 16 July from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Youth Center. Activities include a Safari Club Sensory Trailer, magician, karaoke, face painting, prizes, games and food. RSVPs are required. SCHOOL WORKSHOP - 20 JULY

PARENTING CLASS - 20 JULY - 24 AUG
Family Advocacy is offering a "Parenting Your School-Age Child" class on six consecutive Wednesdays, 1500-1630, 20 Jul-24 Aug 2011, at the Scott Clinic, Bldg 1530, H Wing, 2d floor. EDUCATION SUMMER SIZZLER II - 20 JUL 1100-1300
The Scott AFB Summer Sizzler II Info/Expo showcases programs and support services available through education oriented, family focused agencies to include all on-base schools, the Thrift Store, Library, ITT and representatives from the enlisted and officer spouses organizations, to be held 20 July from 11-1 p.m. outside the Ed Cntr overhang. Free refreshments will be provided by the USO Mobile Unit and the Relay for Life will sponsor a bake sale. In case of inclement weather the event will be held inside the education center. CATHOLIC VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - 25 - 29 JULY
