FLAG PRESERVATION
All flags, except the U.S. flag, have been removed from the parade field for seasonal care. This is a cost savings measure that will cut down on the amount of repairs due to winter wear and tear. The flags will be reposted in the spring on or about April 1 weather permitting.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR VETERANS DAY SCHOOL EVENTS
Team Scott military volunteers wanted for local schools' Veterans Day classroom presentations. Opportunities are available at Highland Middle School, Carlyle Junior High School, Fairview Heights Pontiac Junior High, and Belleville Franklin Elementary on Thurs, Nov. 10. Also, there is one opening for a keynote speaker at the Fallen Soldier Memorial Dedication on Nov. 5 in Fenton, Mo. Events provide a quick and easy volunteer bullet for EPRs/OPRs and public speaking practice in a low-threat environment. To sign up, e-mail christine.spargur@us.af.mil.

LEGAL PRESENTATION - TODAY
Come bring your Professional Military Education to life! On 3 Nov, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces will be at Scott to hear oral arguments in United States v. Fry. Oral arguments will begin at 0915 at the Global Reach Planning Center. 375 AMW/JA will provide an overview of the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces which will be followed by oral arguments and Q&A with the judges. LEGAL OFFICE NOTICE & CLOSURE - TODAY
The Legal Office will not be offering Legal Assistance due to an official function. The office will be open however, for powers of attorney and notary service from 1100-1500. In addition, the Legal office may now provide free legal representation in civilian courts to obtain a divorce. Please contact the legal office for more information at 256-3542.

CHIEF'S PROMOTION PARTY - 4 NOV
Join the chiefs as they celebrate the latest promotion results Friday, Nov. 4, at 1530 at the Scott Club. Chief selects need to be in place by 1500. Air Force officials selected 487 of 2,201 eligible Senior Master Sergeants for promotion to Chief Master Sergeant for a selection rate of 22.13 percent. Please help us celebrate Team Scott's newest Chief Master Sergeant Selects, everyone is cordially invited.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE - 8 NOV

EMERGENCY BROADCAST TEST - 9 NOV
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) announced that on Nov. 9 at 1p.m. CST, the federal government will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System. The test will last up to three and a half minutes. During this period, regularly scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows will be interrupted as the system is being tested. We would like to ensure that all employees and the larger public are aware that this event will be just a test, and not a real emergency alert. The test is being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Communications Commission, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as part of their ongoing efforts to keep the nation safe during emergencies and strengthen our resilience against all hazards.

EO OFFERS TRAINING ON NEW COMMUNICATION DEVICE - 17 NOV
UbiDuo System training is available to anyone who is interested in a method of electronic face to face communication specifically designed for those with hearing/speaking impairments. Learn how to receive a free or low cost mechanism to facilitate open and personal communication. This is a great opportunity to overcome a physical communication barrier. EIM SITE OWNER CLASSES
The 375th AMW EIM Helpdesk has three more EIM Site Owner classes available in November and December. The class dates are as follows:

Nov 16 & 17, 0800-1600 Bldg 859 Rm 134

Dec 7 & 8, 0800-1600 Bldg 859 Rm 134

TRAINING TAX ASSISTANTS - 28 NOV
If you are interested in becoming a part of the Team Scott Tax Assistance Program, the Scott AFB legal office will be hosting an IRS based-training from Nov 28- Dec 2 at the 932nd AW Auditorium from 0900-1600. We are asking our volunteers to commit to a minimum of 20 hours to this program. The VITA program will start 1 February 2011 and end on 30 April 2011. Our hours to assist clients will be from 0800-1600 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Each VITA will be assigned one customer appointment per hour. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Team Scott Tax Assistance Program, please contact SSgt Lyman Cole at 256-5017.

SCOTT CHESS CLUB -TODAY
The 375th Force Support Squadron is starting a new chess club! The meetings will be held every Thursday from 1800 to 1930 at the Scott Club in the Enlisted Lounge beginning 3 Nov. Chess Club is open to all, 18 years of age and older. U.S. Chess Federation rules will be played. All chess equipment will be provided and participation is free. The meetings will provide basic chess instruction and pointers on how to play the game or bring your chess skills up to speed. For more information, call Lisa Frankson at 256-5939.

CARDINAL CREEK CAFÉ CLOSURE - 4 NOV
The Cardinal Creek Golf Course Café will be closing for the winter months 4 Nov at 1300. As an alternative eating facility, try Bread Works at the Scott Club or the Stars & Strikes Bowling Center. Both have online ordering for super fast service. Why wait in line? Tentative reopen time-frame will be March 2012. For more information, call 744-1400.

VETERANS VIGIL RUN - 4-5 NOV
The 2nd Annual Veterans Vigil Run, a 24-hour event, is Nov. 4-5 starting at 4:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies and lighting of the Remembrance Candle, with the run portion staring at 5 p.m., both at the James Gym Track. SKY DIVING ADVENTURE - 5 NOV
Join Outdoor Recreation for an opportunity to do a Static Line Sky Dive or a Tandem Jump on Saturday, 5 Nov. A Static Line Jump is a solo jump, where the parachute is deployed by a line attached to the aircraft. Cost for this extreme adventure is $196/person, which includes transportation, training, equipment, debrief, certificate and logbook for steps toward earning a USPA license. Not sure about solo jumping? Then sign-up for a Tandem Jump (instructor is attached to you and you jump together). Cost for the tandem jump is $250/person. CHILI OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT - 5 NOV
Make plans to join the Cardinal Creek Golf Course for their Chili Open Golf Tournament scheduled for Saturday, 5 Nov with an 1100 shotgun start. This tournament is a 3 person scramble. Fee is $40 per player or $25 per annual pass holder. Fee includes greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch, beverages, closest to the pin, longest drive, shortest drive and flighted place prizes. FAMILY GOLF TIME BEGINS - 6 NOV
Cardinal Creek Family Golf is back and it's better than ever.
