Showcase Airman - MSgt LaFrance
Master Sgt. Barrette LaFrance, NCO in charge of Air Mobility Command Application Development Support, is this week’s Showcase Airman. LaFrance is responsible for instilling a culture change within AMC regarding software development. With his expertise, he restructured a flight of 35 individuals by aligning them to the Extreme Programing Initiative framework. LaFrance led a workplace modernization effort and subsequently purchased new development laptops in order to align with commercial best practices, enabling AMC to keep pace with technological innovation. LaFrance actively mentors 12 programmers in the development of an application for the Honor Guard to be used across AMC. This application promises to increase scheduling efficiency, resulting in an annual savings of $208,000.
