Scott celebrates ‘Year of the Lear’ with consolidation, avionics upgrades
Lt. Col. James Chapa, 458th Airlift Squadron operations officer, poses in front of a legacy C-21 on Jan. 28, 2019 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. As the operations officer, Chapa is responsible for ensuring coordinating the aircraft’s upgrades and training aircrew on the differences between the legacy C-21 and AUP upgraded C-21. One by one, C-21s are being sent to Wichita, Kansas, to receive new avionics and communications suites that will expand the aircraft’s reach, effectiveness, and capability.
