Maj. Michael Silverman, 375th Dental Squadron orthodontist

Maj. Michael Silverman, 375th Dental Squadron orthodontist, is this week’s Showcase Airman. Silverman was a manning assist orthodontist to the dental clinic this summer and ensured 75 orthodontic patients were seen during this transition time. He streamlined a new patient evaluation process and instituted the Dentofacial Deformities Board, enhancing treatment for three complex multidisciplinary cases and facial reconstruction cases. Silverman simplified the Wing Casualty Notification process, ensuring the 375th AMW has casualty notification coverage for this entire region at any moment’s notice. He also helped secure funding for a new 2-D/3-D imaging system and revamped the radiology review system. As the OIC of Quality and CPI POC, he has initiated four CPI projects and re-engineered the Great Communicator program. Silverman also provided 15 original lectures and over 30 hours of clinical instruction to five AEGD residents, and he received invitations to present cases at the prestigious Angle Society of Orthodontists 2018 annual meeting and to lecture at orthodontic residency programs at the University of Kentucky and St. Louis University School of Dentistry. Silverman earned Diplomate status from the American Board of Orthodontics and earned an outstanding rating for the Applied Leadership and Command Course portion of ACSC.
