Showcase on ICE

Airman 1st Class Michael Huval, 375th Communications Support Squadron Software Engineering Flight application developer, is this week’s 375th Air Mobility Wing’s “Showcase on ICE.” He was selected to develop an application for Air Mobility Command’s Inspector General to automate and centralize inspection processes and reporting command-wide, thus replacing the previous Excel program used for documentation. He was handpicked to fill a critical manning shortfall within the 618th Air and Space Operations Center (TACC). During this time he attacked over two dozen command-wide operational software development requirements. Through his own initiative, he improved an aircraft tracker that monitored over 13,000 sorties and 84,000 tons of cargo and addressed several enhancements to the Diplomatic Clearance Application Program. Huval was also selected to test the C-130 Weight and Balance app, where he discovered a critical error with the cargo loading algorithm. The system was found to be calculating passenger weight and balance incorrectly, which could have led to a potentially dangerous aircraft configuration. In addition, he earned nine credit hours to finish all requirements for his Community College of the Air Force degree.
