ICE

Senior Airman Michael S. Dekker, 375th Contracting Squadron, is this week’s 375th Air Mobility Wing “Showcase on Ice. Dekker procured a business through extensive market research to alleviate an emergency leak within hours. He escorted the contractor on base to assess the situation and by 3:30 p.m. the same day, the contractor started work on the problem. This is a process which usually requires days to complete—yet Dekker completed the process in hours. He also performed after hour checks to make sure the job was getting done. Additionally, Dekker expedited the acquisition of $27,000 worth of outdoor circuit and linear exercise equipment for the base track. He secured the time his civil engineer counterparts needed to erect the new outdoor fitness pavilion by extending the rental of a 50 ton crane. While still handling his full work load on the services team, Dekker assisted the Government Purchase Card team when two of three members were TDY. He performed surveillance on 23 cardholders and created 11 new card accounts to increase the wing’s buying power. He is always willing to train squadron members, assist SFS at the gates, raise money with Air Force Sergeant’s Association and feed Airmen in the dorms. He is also one of the squadron’s top volunteers for Booster Club Fundraisers. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Gwendalyn Smith)
