Steven Bommarito, 375th Communications Squadron telephone exchange/DSN central office manager, is this week’s 375th Air Mobility Wing “Showcase on ICE.” He’s been serving at Scott since 2001, and leads a team of five who provide telephone and transport services for over 13,000 users while managing over $4.2 million dollars in IT/telecom assets. His team received high recognition for the fourth consecutive year as the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Outstanding DSN Large Central Office Facility of the Year. He also stepped up as the interim Cyberspace Operations Flight Commander and led 146 personnel without missing a beat. His time-honored experience on multiple disciplines and IT services coupled with his “Wingman first” attitude resonates high among the Airmen. A true leader and mentor, he guided his team during a recent Command Post telecom outage. He worked with his team into the midnight hours and made the call to alt-route the main incoming numbers for the CP, resuming mission operation, until the resident contractor could respond the next day.
