A closer look at optometry

Capt. Jedidiah Smith uses a slit lamp microscope to get a magnified view the patient's eye Feb. 6, 2014 at the Scott Clinic. Diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy are well known to be damaging, but simple things like contact lens over-wear and UV light exposure can be harmful to the eyes as well.
