Scott members reflect on 9/11

Master Sgt. Brian Wells, 375th Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection, and his son Brennon, 5, touch the 9/11 monument during the observance ceremony on Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The Scott monument is made of four pieces: a pentagon shaped-planter constructed of Indiana limestone--the same material used in the façade of the Pentagon. Within the planter, new foliage representing life is planted in soil from Pennsylvania; Twin Tower replicas emerge from the center, made of brushed steel in the same style as the fallen towers. And a steel beam from the Twin Towers. The monument now offers a place of reflection for families, military members and civilian guests. (U.S. Air Force photo, Staff Sgt. Stephenie Wade)
