Scott AES crew train with U.S. Army burn team
Members of the 375th Air Mobility Wing, Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron construct a patient support pallet on a KC-135 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., for a training mission with the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research from San Antonio Military Medical Center, Texas Aug. 28, 2012. The SMMC has the only DoD Burn Transport Team consisting of 6 members who fly worldwide to stabilize and transport some of the worst burn cases. A basic AE crew of 2 flight nurses and 3 EMT med techs supports the 6-person burn team and ensures that they and their patients are safely transported in an airborne environment from the stabilization hospital until the team and patients are delivered back to San Antonio.
