The Integrated Resilience Office hosted a Storytellers event, Sept. 30, providing members of the Scott community an opportunity to share personal experiences and highlight the importance of connection, support and resilience.

The event opened with remarks from U.S. Air Force Col. Matt Collins, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander, who commended the courage of those willing to speak openly about their journeys and use their stories to strengthen others.

Speakers shared perspectives on topics ranging from grief and guilt, to redemption, hope and healing. Their message was consistent: no one is alone, every story matters, and recovery is always possible.

Reflecting on the event, Katie Thaxton, Integrated Resilience Office prevention chief, emphasized the strength required to speak publicly about personal struggles. She noted that when individuals share their stories, they validate the experiences of others, encourage them to reach out for support, and remind the community that help is always available.

The Integrated Resilience Office on Scott aims to build and sustain a resilient community that fosters mental, physical, social, and spiritual fitness. To learn more about their programs and resources, contact 375AMW.CVB.RT@us.af.mil, (618) 256-4353, DSN 576-4353, or visit scott.af.mil/IRO.
