Zadalis prepares officers for performance report success

Maj. Gen. Timothy Zadalis, 618th Air and Space Operations Center commander, opened this year's Company Grade Officer Council professional development series Feb. 26 at the Global Reach Planning Center here.

The seminar prepared company grade officers with essential information on how the Air Force conducts officer promotion boards, different promotion recommendation form writing styles and how officers can proactively prevent missing documents.

"I've always put a lot of effort into performance-report writing for my people because it's important and they deserve that level of attention," said Zadalis. "It's great to have the opportunity to share what I've learned over the years to help young officers set themselves and their people up for success in that area."

Having written hundreds of Performance Recommendation Forms in his 30-year career, Zadalis talked about his personal goals when writing them: getting the individual promoted based on the PRF and never having to say "if I had put 15 more minutes into your PRF, you may have been promoted."

First Lt. Ruby Tamariz from Air Mobility Command organized the event alongside Capt. Amanda Ferguson from the 375th Medical Support Squadron. They both agreed that the event was needed in a time such as this with force shaping occurring, and that they were grateful for Zadalis's contribution to CGOs' professional development.

The CGO Executive Council will continue to sponsor quarterly events geared towards professional development, networking and community outreach.
