JTF Scott makes a positive impact every day Published April 10, 2008 By Col. Al Hunt 375th Airlift Wing commander SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Greetings, Joint Total Force Scott, from 5,000 miles away. For the last week, I have had the privilege of being deployed as the deputy director of mobility forces for a U.S. Pacific Command joint exercise called Terminal Fury. Now more than ever, I am proud to be a JTF Scott ambassador. My experience as a wing commander coming from a joint total force environment definitely helped me to hit the ground running during this exercise. We are fortunate to work on a base where active duty, Guardsmen, Reservists and civilians from all branches of the military perform missions side by side. When it comes to the future of our armed forces, JTF Scott certainly has the advantage! Throughout the course of this exercise, I witnessed first-hand the significant influence JTF Scott has on the military's ability to plan and execute mobility missions. U.S. Transportation Command worked hand in hand with the other Scott organizations including the Military Surface Deployment Distribution Command, Air Mobility Command, the 18th Air Force's Air Operations Center and 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center to make worldwide movement of troops and equipment possible. Beyond transportation, agencies including the Defense Information Systems Agency, also headquartered at Scott, enabled communications flow to and from deployed environments from CONUS. Furthermore, the superb augmentation provided by Guard and Reserve personnel served as huge force multipliers throughout many organizations in this exercise. My recent experience away from Scott clearly demonstrated the profound effect we have not only in our own base and community, but also to missions being performed in different regions of the world. JTF Scott definitely has the power to significantly impact our country's ability to fight and win global conflicts. Thanks for all you do!
