Happy Holidays Published Dec. 12, 2008 By Col. Gary Goldstone 375th Airlift Wing commander SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- As we enter this joyous season and approach the end of 2008, it is fitting that we pause to reflect on all that Team Scott has accomplished throughout the last twelve months. For another year, Team Scott has been an integral part of keeping America and its allies safe and free. In operations at home and abroad, we have defended our country's vital interests; transformed chaos into calm; and provided the very resources needed to sustain life in some of the most remote and desolate regions in the world. Most importantly, by our very presence in these countries, we have brought hope to those who have known despair. These are not only great military achievements; they are great humanitarian accomplishments for which the entire world can be proud. Now, as we gather to enjoy the holidays, let us rejoice in the freedoms which your sacrifice, dedication, and determination have made possible. Let us not forget those who will not be able to celebrate with us - the Soldiers standing watch; the Sailors scanning the horizon over troubled waters; the Airmen enabling combat power around the globe; the Marines bunkered down in the sands of a distant land; and the Coast Guardsmen patrolling the waters off America's shores. Remember also those who will be on duty during the holidays, right here at home. May each of you be comforted in knowing that the people of this great nation recognize your sacrifices and are grateful for your service. You make the freedoms we so readily enjoy possible. I thank you for your commitment to the mission. Team Scott, be safe this holiday season. Fly tight formation with your Wingmen and be prepared to take the lead if the need arises. Most importantly, enjoy spending time with your family and friends while soaking in the beauty of the season. May the spirit and peace of this holiday season be with you all, and may health and happiness greet you in the New Year. Happy Holidays Team Scott! Colonel and Mrs. Gary Goldstone
