Family Appreciation—An enduring commitment to our secret weapon

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. --  Service to our nation is a calling that military members embrace. Our ability to serve is reliant upon the heroes that make up the military family. Our families serve in a very special and important way too. Our United States Air Force has always identified with the importance of our families and it is no surprise that we are focusing attention on our families...this is the Year of The Air Force Family. 

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude not only for my own family, but for all the spouses and children who support military members. Truly, the spouses and family members of Team Scott are the strength of Team Scott. They are a force multiplier and one of our nation's best kept secret weapons. 

It is fitting that several Team Scott agencies are offering activities that will enrich our families. From finances to communication skills, Team Scott plans to host seminars and outings and recognition programs focused on our families. You can find complete listings in this issue of the "Command Post" and online at www.scott.af.mil. 

As I reflect on the journey Mary and I have had, I cannot tell you how grateful I am for her support and understanding. Together, our family is just part of our much bigger Air Force family. Our formidable team is what makes serving our nation such a great way of life. The 375 AMW chapel, the 375th Force Support Squadron and others are here to help you enhance your experience as you enjoy service life. 

It is rudimentary to effective leadership and followership to take care of our families. Though our days are long and often full of many commitments, we must find a balance that enables our ability to enjoy our families as well as our military service. 

Please make the time and effort to participate in the activities offered here at Team Scott. After all, it is an opportunity to take care of our very special secret weapon!
