Scott personnel reminded to recycle responsibly Published July 20, 2016 375th Civil Engineer Squadron SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Recycle Collection Area is a great resource to rid the house of recyclable material, but with an increase of illegal dumping at the RCA, it’s important to remind the Scott community of the accepted materials. Materials that are accepted include: newspaper; steel and tin cans; magazines; white paper; cardboard; computer paper; plastics (one to three only), excluding bags; mixed paper; aluminum; junk and personal mail; metals (all types); glass (all colors); toner cartridges (in original box and sealed); and wood pallets. Materials that are not accepted include: yard waste, Christmas trees, and tree limbs; vehicle and bike tires; Styrofoam of any type; paint and paint cans; bubble wrap; oil, oily rags, and oil cans; mattresses; gas cans; lumber; televisions and microwaves; paper towels and tissue paper; computer and monitors; plate glass and Chinaware; batteries; food products; trash; plastic bags; furniture; and units with Freon. The Scott Air Force Base RCA is available for use at 34020 New Mexico St. The self-help area is open 24 hours every day, and the office hours of operation are from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
