The First Four Annual Leadership Conference, or FALCON, was held Aug. 7 and 8 in the Library Auditorium and Education Center at Scott Air Force Base.

FALCON is a professional development conference put on by Airmen for Airmen to educate them in areas they feel are important for their own personal growth.

Each day began and ended with "chief's time," where the command chief master sergeants at Scott took time to give their insight, as well as answer questions.

Chief Master Sgt. Martin Klukas, U.S. Transportation Command senior enlisted leader, gave the opening keynote address to the Airmen on why opportunities like the FALCON are important.

"You've got the ability to create an environment for the future and education is key," said Klukas. "You don't have experience in some of these realms, but here you've got the people with the know how to teach it."

Throughout the day Airmen had a choice of classes on professional or personal development. Classes offered were on the importance of stripes for what to expect when transitioning to be an NCO or what to expect when serving while starting a family. Others focused on leadership and the different opportunities available for Airmen progressing in their career.

Senior Airman Richard Bunn, First Four president, said, "FALCON's importance is on teaching Airmen how to get involved at the base as well increase their knowledge on developing as Airmen."
