The 375th Operations Group met their new commander, Col. Jeanette Voigt, during an assumption of command ceremony July 12.

The commander's leadership philosophy involves taking responsibility for developing leaders for the next generation and helping squadron commanders under her command make decisions that will help them become the future leaders of the Air Force.

"It's important to me to provide leadership opportunities throughout the OG," Voigt said. "From young Airmen looking to become first-line supervisors, NCOs developing into the SNCO corps, and junior officers learning their positions and leadership requirements."

Voigt has expectations for Airmen as they begin their careers and look to advance their knowledge and skills.

"My expectations are for my Airmen to learn as much as they can on what they do and what the Air Force culture and heritage is, so they can be good representatives of the Air Force and the community at large," she said.

The commander said she wants to learn as much as she can during her time here to best help the organization as they execute the mission.

"My role at Scott is to make sure flying operations are taken care of so our wing commander is available to address the important issues that occur base wide," she said.

When it comes to role models, the commander looks to her former commanders, who she feels helped shape and lead her.

"My first role model is Maj. Gen. Alfred J. Stewart, who showed me the importance of having passion for the Air Force and the mission we do," she said. "My second is Brig.
Gen. Roger Watkins because he taught me the importance of being fair and impartial with everyone you deal with as a commander and a leader."

Being a member of a dual military family, she says she is very aware and compassionate to the challenges military couples and single parents face in trying to balance family and work life.

Voigt received her Air Force commission as a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in 1991. Following her graduation from pilot training, she was assigned to fly the KC-135R, where she served as both an instructor and evaluator.

Voigt's other assignments include serving as chief of the Strategic Analysis Branch, National Guard Bureau, Pentagon, Va.; chief of safety, 305th Air Mobility Wing, McGuire AFB, N.J.; commander of the 32nd Air Refueling Squadron, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.; and the deputy commander of the 305th Operations Group, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

Her last assignment before arriving at Scott was director of support of the Holm Center, Maxwell AFB, Ala.
