After a 22-month assignment, Chief Master Sgt. Marty Anderson, 375th Air Mobility Wing command chief, is headed south to be the 8th Air Force command chief at Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

Anderson arrived at Scott in March of 2012. As a command chief his job is to communicate the wing commander's agenda at all levels and to address Airmens' concerns. He's also responsible for the morale and welfare of the total enlisted force.

"The best part of my job is identifying and removing roadblocks to allow our great Airmen to complete their mission," said Anderson. "Whether it's an Airman, NCO, senior NCO, officer or civilian, I enjoy solving issues and making an impact and difference. I especially like it when I can use my experience to help someone see a situation from a different perspective."

Anderson also used his experience during his tenure here; he advised not one but three wing commanders.

"Each commander comes in with a different perspective and objectives," he said. "The experience enabled me to use different problem solving skills to help make solid recommendations on behalf of the Airmen.

"One thing I will miss the most about Scott is seeing the passion of the Airmen. When it comes to enabling global rapid mobility, our Airmen complete the mission and do it with professionalism and pride. It's an example of true team work.

"As I embark for Barksdale, I will remember that no one job or person is more important than the other," said Anderson. "It takes everyone working together to complete the mission. It's been an honor and privilege to serve here at Scott."

Chief Master Sgt. Teresa Clapper, who's assigned to the 375th Mission Support Group, will serve as interim command chief until a new one is chosen.
