Cardinal Creek Café re-opens after renovations Published Feb. 26, 2014 By Senior Airman Jake Eckhardt 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Cardinal Creek Café at Scott Air Force Base re-opened Feb. 20 after being closed for eight months for renovations caused by the flooding in the spring of 2013. Mike Penick, 375th Force Support Squadron golf operations clerk, said, "The golf course and café are huge money-makers for us. It's unfortunate that we had to close for a while." The golf course lost about half of the 72 golf carts they had, and the building was gutted after it was filled with two-feet of water. The golf course operations were able to continue while the café was being rebuilt when the golf shop was moved to the second floor temporarily. The building has since been tiled, re-carpeted, repainted and the drywall has been replaced. The golf course plans to re-open April 1 and there will be a grand re-opening ceremony to be announced. The course closed during the winter in an effort to make repairs and save on operational costs during historically slow periods of business. This was a test effort and officials plan to re-open with a new business plan to be unveiled. Meanwhile, the Cardinal Creek Café is open from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
