PLAYpass ends March 31, families should take advantage Published Feb. 26, 2014 By 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs 375th Air Mobility Wing SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Military members and families who currently have a PLAYpass have until March 31 to take advantage of the program's incentives at Scott Air Force Base. As of Feb. 19, the Air Force has stopped the issuing of new cards. "Unfortunately, the funds for this initiative will be exhausted soon," said Lisa Timmerman, 375th Force Support Squadron marketing director. "We encourage card holders to use as much of the card as possible until expiration of the program." The program, sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and ran by the Scott Airman Family Readiness Center, was created to help ease the stress for Scott troops and their families while deployed or in the process of reintegrating from a deployment through social, recreational, fitness and learning opportunities. The family pass can be used by the deployed member's family during their deployment and once the member returns until March 31. Eligible members are given a PLAYpass card worth $500. Each card has 20 different blocks worth $25. Members are allowed to bring their families or friends along with them to go on trips or other activities and use as little or as much of the card as they would like at once. Activities run by the Youth Center, Information Tickets and Travel, Outdoor Recreation, bowling alley and the Cardinal Creek Golf Course are just a few programs run by FSS that are available to be used by the PLAYpass. PLAYpass cards are no longer issued. For more information, please contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 256-8668.
