Flooding during the summer of 2013 and budget restructuring caused the Cardinal Creek Golf Course to go through many significant renovations.

The grand re-opening ceremony occurred at the Cardinal Creek Golf Course Café March 28.

The celebration included a ribbon cutting, free food, golf specials and a prize drawing.
Golf enthusiasts and Airmen from all over the base gathered to celebrate the opening and enjoy the camaraderie.

Col. Kyle Kremer, the 375th Air Mobility Wing commander started out the event by saying a few words about the hard work that was put in to making that day possible. He also thanked Brian Johnson, the 375th Force Support Squadron bowling and golf programs manager.

Johnson said, "Today is the culmination of a long hard winter and closure, to getting the golf facility back in operations and offer golf back to the Scott community."
It took 31/2 months of cleaning, remodeling and renovations to be able to have the café open and running now.

The Cardinal Creek Golf Course also offered a welcome back Spring fling tournament March 29. The tournament was a kick off to the 2014 golf season and more than 20 teams participated.

Johnson said the golf course is here to provide Team Scott members enrichment to their lives.

"In the military there has to come time for relaxation. It's a pretty important part in the well-being of Airmen."

Staff members still have plans of expanding and doing even more renovations to the building this summer.

Thomas Rector, 375th FSS community services flight chief said, "We want to improve the upstairs party room area, renovate the snack bar to handle more customers and to add an outdoor beer garden with grilling facilities."

The week's festivities will come to an end with a prize drawing that will occur at the Café April 4 at 4:30 p.m. The prize party will feature music, snacks specials and the give-away of prizes.

"This is your golf course," Rector said. "The only way it will stay here is if you use it."
