AFAF fundraising campaign extended Published May 7, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Kiana Brothers 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 2014 Air Force Assistance Fund is coming to an end, but AFAF has extended its pledge period an additional two weeks. The AFAF has extended to May 16 to continue reaching for its goal of $120,000. AFAF has made contact with 96 percent of the installation and raised more than 76 percent of its goal. "Please keep up the momentum during the extension," said Capt. Michael Danhoffer, the 375th Communications Support Squadron director of operations. "This campaign is not possible without the support that each one of you provides." The campaign allows Airmen to support the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Village Foundation, the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation and the Air Force Enlisted Village. The charities help Airmen with emergency financial assistance, providing more than $17.4 million to over 75,000 Air Force members and their families last year to various community enhancement programs. The AFAF will recognize outstanding performers on three criteria: reaching 125 percent or higher of monetary goal for the unit, the donation amount being equal to or higher than the previous year for the unit, and first, second and third unit to reach 100 percent of its goal during the campaign. No prizes will be given out, but certificates will be provided to commanders. "We would like to hear your ideas on how to make AFAF fundraising more successful for next year's campaign," said Danhoffer. "Please email us your questions or suggestions."
