Outdoor Recreation will once again open the Fitness Center pool starting on May 30.

Lisa Timmermann, 375th Force Support Squadron marketing director, said that in addition to the normal opening, the Fitness Center pool will open specifically for the Memorial Day weekend and will officially open seven days a week beginning May 30.  The pool with be open to Department of Defense card holders and their guests.

The pool will continue to have a small fee for use--$3 per person and free for children  under 5 years of age.  Club card holders will receive a $2 discount per person. Outdoor Recreation will also offer season passes for $175 per military member, with an additional fee of $25 per family member. Club card holders will also receive a discount of $60 and $10 per family member.

Douglas Hartung, Outdoor Recreation director, said the fees are necessary to keep the pool operational for base personnel following the budget cuts that occurred last year, and that the pool will still offer many of the programs it had in the past.

"We still offer swim lessons for all age groups, swim teams, military swim lessons, pool parties and the cardboard boat regatta," Hartung said. "We also will be supporting many youth activities and day camps; we are very family oriented."

Military personnel can receive swim lessons for free.

For all swim lessons, individuals will be evaluated at their first lesson and then placed in the appropriate class level.

Hartung said the pool will now have two dedicated lap lanes.

The Fitness Center Pool is open for free Adult Lap Swim Monday-Friday, 6 to 7 a.m., for daily fees for Adult Lap Swim Monday-Friday, 1 to 6 p.m. and for daily fees for swimming Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The pool is also available for your own private pool party. Swim lessons for all ages are also available this year.
