The 18th Air Force is preparing for an assumption of command ceremony to be held June 20 at 10 a.m. at Hangar 1 whereupon Lt. Gen. Carlton D. Everhart II assumes command.

Maj. Gen. Barbara Faulkenberry, who has been serving as the 18th AF commander since May 5, will resume her position as vice commander.  Presiding at the ceremony will be Gen. Darren W. McDew, commander for Air Mobility Command.

Everhart arrives from the 3rd AF and 17th Expeditionary Air Force, located at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. As commander of 3rd AF and 17th EAF he was in charge of planning, deploying, employing, sustaining and redeploying Air Force forces supporting U.S. European and U.S. Africa Commands.

As 18th AF commander, Everhart will be responsible for the command's mission of providing rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America's armed forces. Everhart will also promote to Lieutenant General the same day as his assumption of command.

Due to limited parking at the Parade Field, a shuttle service will be running to and from the ceremony. Buses will shuttle between the Scott Club and the Hangar 1 between 9-9:45 a.m. Buses will return to the club after the ceremony.
