Parking at Child Development Center is for parents only

The Child Development Center is experiencing some issues with parking and request everyone's assistance to ensure the spaces are used by their patrons only.

It appears that members of Team Scott using the base track for physical training have been parking in the CDC's parking lot, leaving the parents with no place to park near the CDC.

"The spaces are for the parents of the children so they do not have to walk a long distance to the facility," said Matthew Puls, CDC Director. "Some of the parents are carrying a child in a child seat and having to try and hold another ones hand as they walk inside."

During the track renovations there were no complaints, but now many parents are complaining because they can't find a parking space.  Parents have also complained about track users who speed through the area not realizing that they are putting parents and children in danger.

"Speeding through the parking lot is becoming a safety issue," said Puls. "You never know if a child may dart away from their parent and run out in front of a car, and the car could hit the child due to going too fast or not seeing the child."

Signs are posted near the CDC buildings which indicate that the parking spaces are reserved for Bldg. 1807 occupants only, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. However patrons using the track have not been abiding by the signs.

"The signs may leave some to believe that is only referring to the particular spot near the sign, but they are actually posted to notify everyone that the parking lot is only for CDC personnel and patrons," said Master Sgt. Anna Keck, the 375th Force Support Squadron first sergeant.

The parking lot next to the track across from the dining facility is for CDC parking only. If members need alternative parking for the track, they can use the dining facility or James Sports Center parking lots. For more information contact the 375th Force Support Squadron.
