Col. Brent Sonday, 375th Dental Squadron commander, assumed command June 26.  Each new commander brings something unique with them to Team Scott. Sonday's leadership philosophy has always been to teach and to lead to promote teamwork, perseverance and confidence.

Q: What led you to joining the Air Force?

A: I had many positive experiences while growing up and being part of a team, and my continued desire to be part of a great team led me to becoming a dentist in the Air Force.

Q: What is your favorite Air Force memory?

A: My favorite AF memory was being selected for Pediatric Dental Residency Training in 2001.  Having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of younger people has always been a goal, and I thoroughly enjoy the psychology aspect of managing behaviors.

Q: What can the 375th Dental Squadron's Airmen expect from you?

A: Our Airmen can expect me to spend a great deal of effort "explaining why," promoting honesty, fairness, and building confidence in our Airmen.  I believe it is essential to our success as a team if our Airmen to believe in themselves and have all the tools to grow into outstanding future leaders.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a commander?

A: Being part of a successful team and watching our young Airmen grow into fantastic NCOs, and watching our company grade officers developing into great field grade officers.

Q: What advice do you have for those under your leadership?

A: Understand my focus of encouraging effort each day. Build confidence in others. Provide a positive atmosphere of teamwork and have perseverance.

Q: What do you look forward to during your command?

A: I very much look forward to our unit advancing our readiness stature and propelling the wing's mission of enabling rapid global mobility.

Q: Do you have anything else you would like to add?

A: I want to thank our Airmen for their service and thank our medical group commander, Col. Bret Burton, and our wing commander, Col. Kyle Kremer for the opportunity to lead such a great dental squadron.
