The 375th Air Mobility Wing received two "Excellent" ratings during the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection last month. The inspection was completed July 11.

"These ratings demonstrate our [375th Communication Squadron] networks and systems capability to support numerous critical missions across Air Mobility Command," said Lt. Col. Ivan Herwick, 375th Communication Squadron commander.

The CCRI is a thorough review of networks and computers on installations throughout the Department of Defense and is conducted by the Defense Information Systems Agency under the direction and authority of U.S. Cyber Command.

"In this recent inspection, Scott was evaluated for network vulnerabilities, physical security, user education, and compliance with DoD security orders and directives," said Herwick. "The CCRI is not just a compliance test. Failure of the inspection can result in serious consequences, including the possibility of disconnecting the base from the broader DoD communications network."

Although, the 375th CS was the focal point for much of the inspection activity, every organization and user on the base contributed to the success.

"Since the last CCRI two years ago, there has been a focused effort to develop and institutionalize processes that eliminated tens of thousands of vulnerabilities and hundreds of controlled security areas," said Herwick.

Despite the size and complexity of Scott, inspectors noted the outstanding procedures that the base uses on a daily basis which made it clear that the "Excellent" security posture is enduring and not just the result of a surge for the inspection.

"The CCRI validated the hard work of personnel across Team Scott and established Scott as a benchmark for cybersecurity," said Herwick.
