Air Force Ball is Sept. 20 at Scott Club Published Aug. 27, 2014 By Courtesy of Scott Air Force Ball Committee SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Team Scott will host the Air Force Ball Sept. 20 at the Scott Club. The ball is an annual Air Force-wide tradition designed to celebrate the heritage and history of military's premier aerial service. This year's event marks the 67th anniversary of the Air Force as a separate service. "We have a great team and community that are focused on making this a great night and our goal is to emphasize today's heroes and tomorrow's legacy," said Jennifer Wang, Air Force Ball Committee president. "Through its Airmen, the Air Force does amazing things around the globe. So at this year's ball, we are holding a special ceremony highlighting our finest Airmen and their contribution to enabling rapid global mobility." This year's guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. Rowayne Schatz, U.S. Transportation Command, Director of operations and plans. The evening will be gala style and will feature a huge array of heavy hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment by the "Shades of Blue" Air Force Band. The night will be closed out with music by a local DJ. "The importance of this ball cannot be overstated," Wang said. "Not only are we honoring our top tier Airmen and building camaraderie, we are sharing a time-honored military tradition with civic leaders who will be in attendance. It is really quite exciting!" Another special feature of this year's ball is the commemorative "ticket" coin that will be given to each attendee as a memento to mark the occasion. Ticket sales for the ball began last Friday and will run through Sept. 17. For ticket prices and purchase information visit www.scottafball.com or email scottafball@gmail.com. To help offset costs, there will be a golf tournament fundraiser Sept. 5 at the Cardinal Creek Golf Course on base.
