Document Services Celebrates 65th Anniversary Published Nov. 7, 2014 Defense Logistics Agency Document Services SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Defense Logistics Agency Document Services is ready to cut their cake in celebration of 65 years of service. A cake-cutting ceremony will be held for employees at Document Services' headquarters with Office Groups connecting through video teleconference to cut their cakes collectively. The cake-cutting is an important part of the 65th anniversary celebration, which will span the whole first week of November. During the ceremony, Director Stephen Sherman will remark on the many past successes of the organization and share a view to the future. In August, a contest was held for employees to create a 65th Anniversary logo that would be used throughout the celebration to promote the milestone. There were many great entries, but the chosen logo was designed by Renee Bonnafon of the DC Office Group. This logo has been incorporated into flyers, banners, and other promotional items that will be seen during the anniversary festivities. Throughout the months leading up to the 65th anniversary, employees have been treated to "Time Capsule" email blasts that feature photos from Document Services' past. Many employees have sent in photos from their local facilities that show not only the ever changing hairstyles of the last 65 years, but also the changes in technology used in producing orders for customers. The "Time Capsule" blasts are encouraging employees to reflect on this organizational milestone. Some photos include long-time employees that are still working for Document Services today. The faces of the past, now integrated with the present, are creating enthusiasm and unity in moving toward the future. Document Services employees strive for quality in all that they produce, which has been a key characteristic for the past 65 years. Customer satisfaction has always been - and will continue to be - a top priority for the Document Services team. This is the driving force that unites the staff, regardless of geographical location. Among the anniversary festivities scheduled are potlucks at many locations, which will provide a way for the team to celebrate their hard work and enjoy good food and prizes. DLA Document Services started in the basement of the Pentagon in 1949, and has since grown to have sites all over the world that serve its customers. Many customer service centers will be using the 65th Anniversary as a way to reach out to customers -- past, present, and future. DLA Document Services is located at 901 South Drive, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. 62225. The shop can be reached at 618-256-4686.
