New flightline entry procedures Published Feb. 4, 2015 By Senior Airman Joshua Eikren 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- In an effort to streamline operations on Scott Air Force Base's flightline, the 375th Security Forces Squadron has made some changes to its access procedures. The Heritage Gate, at Hangar Road and Heritage Drive, will now remain permanently closed. Those who have been vetted and are authorized to operate on the flightline may still access it; however, the procedures for gaining access are now slightly different. "Everyone trying to access the area will have to swipe their restricted area badge," said Tech. Sgt. Joshua Clark, 375 SFS Assistant NCOIC of Operations. "It will open that gate, allowing them to drive through and then close behind them. We've also ensured those with command authority have expedited access, as well as the fire department, medical, and security forces." Clark explained that the additional layer of security at the entry control point allows for Security Forces to continue to patrol other vital areas on the flightline. Just like in the past, for those without access, they will need to be escorted. For certain events such as change of commands, event coordinators can still request a free-zone area that allows for wider access during event times. For questions about free-zone areas at Hangar 1 contact Security Forces at 256-1457.
