The MMA fighters, Tito Ortiz, Royce Gracie, "King Mo" Lawal, and Will Brooks, started their day off at Scott with a meet and greet. Airmen and family members received autographs, posed for photos, and chatted with the fighters. "This was the first time I came to a military base to meet with the troops," said Brooks, MMA Bellator lightweight champion. "I was surprised by how welcoming they were to us." After visiting with the Airmen, the fighters took a lunch break with seven lucky Airmen at Zeppelins. The Airmen had a chance to ask them questions about fighting and their careers. The Airmen shared with the fighters what they do for their jobs. Then Lawal, light heavyweight fighter, shared with the group his thoughts about his career. He said that although he was a professional fighter, he believed that everyone is a fighter in their own way fighting in this life. After lunch, they received a tour of the C-21 aircraft at Hangar 3 and met with some of the pilots. They finished their day off at James Gym doing a group work out. Five physical training leaders started their workout of pushups, planks and mountain climbers. The fighters then taught the Airmen some fighting techniques. "What they taught us was definitely cool," said Stacey Golden, U.S. Transportation Command Headquarters, after participating in the work out session led by the fighters. "I really appreciate them coming out to meet us." Information, Tours and Tickets offered discounted tickets for the Bellator MMA fight in St. Louis, June 19. Golden planned to attend that fight. Ortiz said, "This was an opportunity for us to give back to the men and women who sacrifice their lives for our country."
