Weather woes: base picnic hosted inside Scott Club Published July 1, 2015 By Senior Airman Joshua Eikren 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Bad weather was projected for all day June 26, but that didn't stop Scott Air Force Base from having its annual base picnic. The 375th Force Support Squadron put on this year's picnic in the Scott Club to avoid inclement weather, and had a showing of approximately 4,800 attendees. "The purpose of the 2015 FSS Base Picnic is to proudly showcase our Force Support Squadron activities and loyal sponsors," said 1st Lt. Timothy Webster, 375th FSS Sustainment Services Flight Commander. "This provides us an opportunity to say 'thank you' to the Scott community for their support of our programs and activities." The picnic had more than 40 sponsors, numerous cultures represented by Diversity Day, as well as several Integrated Delivery System agencies such as the Airman and Family Readiness Center, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, the Base Chapel, Family Advocacy, Air Force Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment, and Drug Demand Reduction Program represented at the event. "Events like these are important to highlight many of the activities that the FSS provides to Team Scott," said Webster. "At the same time, it gives our loyal sponsors a chance to stay connected to our greater Scott AFB community and help provide a free fun-filled event for people of all ages." Webster added, "In addition to the Force Support Squadron activities that were present, elements of the 375th Security Forces Squadron, 375th Civil Engineer Squadron, 375th Logistical Readiness Squadron, and Public Health were all involved with providing technical assistance and expertise in the planning, and in most cases, execution of the base picnic." Even with a change of venue, the base picnic was still a big success that continues to bring Scott together. "We also had numerous individual volunteers from our private organizations and from Team Scott that assisted with everything from trash, serving food, and clean-up," said Webster. "The 2015 FSS Base Picnic really was a Team Scott effort and our thanks and appreciation goes out to all who were involved."
