Members of the 375th Air Mobility Wing welcomed their new commander today who spoke of the wing's mission as "lifting others to help them fulfill their mission."

Col. Laura Lenderman took command from Col. Kyle Kremer in a ceremonial event presided over by Lt. Gen. Carlton Everhart II, 18th Air Force Commander, and flanked by four formation groups under the wing's command to observe the transfer.  Family, including her husband Col. Dave Lenderman, friends, and local leaders representing the surrounding communities who have been a part of Scott AFB's shaping were also in attendance.

"I am truly humbled by today's events. As I stand here I can honestly say, though my family was stationed here in the early 1980's, that I never dreamed that 35 years later I'd be standing on this parade field taking command of the 375th Air Mobility Wing. This is truly a dream come true," said the colonel who previously served in Washington D.C. as Chief of the Analysis Branch, Program and Budget Analysis Division, Joint Staff J-8.  This is her third time to call Scott AFB home, including prior to her military career.

"Every day we honor our motto: 'Help From Above' and we lift others up and help them be successful, and that is huge," she said. "As we lift others up and help them fulfill their mission, we will continue to honor our wing heritage, and provide innovative solutions, clear and transparent communication, and a commitment to excellence. Those three things have made us great, and those three things will continue to make us great."

She acknowledged the difficulties of the tasks Scott Airmen are requested to bear, and assured everyone she will be there to support them so they can deliver their best.
Everhart said the ceremony "acknowledged the official transfer of responsibility between two great leaders."

"This responsibility is not to be taken lightly. Command is a privilege, a sacred trust that demands great commitment and character.  Like her predecessor, she will lead with equality and integrity, these are the characteristics of a true leader," said Everhart. "She knows and understands rapid global mobility... she knows what this base is capable of."

Kremer addressed the wing for the last time as commander, and said he was grateful to have been a part of that organization as a commander for the past two years.  He moves on to serve in an executive role to the commander of U.S. Transportation Command.

"It has truly been the highlight of my career," said Kremer, "it has been both the toughest, most challenging assignment that I've had, but it's also been the easiest and most rewarding, and that's because of you. You make it look easy, because you're so professional in getting the job done... you support our mission of enabling rapid global mobility. You are going to shine even brighter under the leadership of Col. Laura Lenderman.  She is just an incredibly professional and impressive woman and leader."
