In another show of volunteerism, Team Scott members helped ensure the Midwest Salute to the Arts was a success.

Midwest Salute to the Arts is a juried art show featuring 100 award-winning artists from all over the country. The art fair took place at Everett Moody Park in Fairview Heights Aug. 27-30.

The event is operated by more than 300 volunteers--11 of them were members of Scott.

"I believe people should give back in the community whenever they can," said Tech. Sgt. Joseph Venable, Air Mobility Command headquarters. "A person never knows when they may be 'on the other side of the coin' and in need of assistance."

The Scott Airmen volunteered at the event by helping set-up and tearing down. Doing so helped the staff prepare other essential aspects of the event ensuring that everything was going to go as planned.

"Joseph Venable is the best thing that has happened to us, he always comes out with a smile and helps everywhere that's needed," said Sharon Kassing, Executive Director of Midwest Salute to the Arts. It wasn't for him and the Airmen it would take much longer to finish."

The event offered live entertainment, an interactive children's creation station, children's gallery, food court, and live art demonstrations.

The children's gallery offered kids only shopping from artwork donated by the 100 artists with only a $5 entry fee. Children were then encouraged to visit the artist of the chosen piece of art.

The different pieces of art included paintings using various mediums, photography, sculptures, woodwork, jewelry and other handmade objects.

"This is the 3rd consecutive year that Team Scott has been requested to participate and as always, members from Team Scott exceeded the expectations," said Venable.
