Starting May 18, the Scott Air Force Base Main Pharmacy will process and dispense all new prescriptions in the Clinic located at 310 W. Losey St.

"We are consolidating all new prescription processing for on-base and off-base providers at the main pharmacy location in the main clinic," said Tech. Sgt. Anna Anderson, 375th Medical Support Squadron clinic pharmacy NCO in charge.

"All refill prescriptions (that patients request via the automated phone system) will continue to be processed and available for pick-up at the Satellite Pharmacy located at 312 W. Winters St."

To compensate for the move, the pharmacy flight will shift additional personnel to the main pharmacy location to accommodate the workload.

"The pharmacy flight needs to align available technician staff to better support Scott pharmacy patron needs," said Anderson. "We determined maintaining two full service pharmacy locations was not the most efficient use of our current staff and caused unnecessary service delays and confusion for our pharmacy patrons."

This change will improve the process of new prescriptions for its patrons and eliminate any confusion regarding which site services which type of prescription.

"Now it's simple; if it's a new prescription from any provider, Scott pharmacy patrons go the main pharmacy location," said Anderson.

"If you need a refill of your medication, call the Scott Refill line at 256-7400, enter the desired prescription numbers, and the medications will be available for pick up in two duty days at the Satellite Pharmacy."

The Pharmacy's priority is its patrons and finding better ways to serve them in their time of need.

Anderson said, "Our goal is to improve the safety and efficiency of prescription services for Scott pharmacy patrons and ease operational stress on the pharmacy staff."
