Kinderspot connects families at Scott AFB Published April 29, 2025 By Staff Sgt. Stephanie Henry 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Families at Scott Air Force Base have access to more flexible childcare options with the Kinderspot app, which became available in Spring 2024. Kinderspot, designed to support Department of the Air Force Child Development Centers, allows parents of enrolled CDC children to offer weeklong blocks of their reserved care to other eligible families. When a family rents an available slot, the original family receives a credit to their childcare account, helping to reduce overall costs. To participate, families seeking to rent a spot must complete the required documentation, such as immunization records and proof of family income, and set up a Child and Youth Program Business Management System account. Once verified, they can book available weeks through the Kinderspot app, with rental fees paid directly to the CDC at a rate based on their income. Created by Maj. Jacque Vasta, Air Officer Commanding for Cadet Squadron 35 at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Kinderspot won the top idea at the 2020 Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Innovation Rodeo. AFIMSC initially awarded $333,000 for the project and later secured additional funding through a Small Business Innovation Research contract. Kinderspot is available on Android and iOS platforms.
