Guest speakers included Chief Master Sgt. Retired Aaron Schultz, 375th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, Chief Master Sgt. Retired Tim Walsh and Col. Richard Kind, 375th Air Mobility Command deputy commander. Walsh, with the help of Airman Russell Smith, 375th CES firefighter, presented a wreath symbolizing eternity, continuity, and memory to those who lost their lives. To conclude the ceremony, a bell provided by the O’Fallon Fire Department was rung three times by Smith, a tradition done annually representing the bell strikes that occurred to count the number of first responders who died during the attack.
