As Team Scott prepares to bid a fond farewell to Col. Raymond Rottman, they are also gearing up to welcome Col. Alan Hunt.
Colonel Hunt is set to take the reins as 375th Airlift Wing commander May 22, but this will not be the first time he has been stationed at Scott.
Colonel Hunt first came to Scott in June 1995 as the command navigator, chief tactics navigator and joint airborne and air transportability training program manager at the Headquarters Air Mobility Command.
He  grew up in Baltimore, Md. and got his commission from the University of Notre Dame Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program.
“After earning my commission as a 2nd Lt. from the AFROTC program in 1986, I went to navigator training at Mather Air Force Base, Calif., said Colonel Hunt. “My first operational assignment was to Charleston AFB S.C. where I flew C-141s in the Special Ops Low Level II program.”
Some of the stops along Colonel Hunt’s career have included being the 13th Airlift Squadron commander at McGuire AFB, N.J., director of executive support for the Deputy Chief of Staff of Air and Space Operations at the Pentagon and the 715th Air Mobility Operations Group commander at Hickam AFB, Hawaii.
“One of the highlights of my career includes being a crewmember on the initial special operations forces airdrop insertion into Panama for Operation Just Cause. Another memorable moment in my career was serving as the United States Transportation Command liaison officer to United States Central and Southern Commands during the initial force rotation from Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom," said Colonel Hunt.
When Colonel Hunt begins his role as the 375th AW commander he has several starting goals in mind.
“When I take over for Colonel Rottman, we will continue to build upon his many successes and seek new ways for the Scott community to leverage technology, ingenuity and manpower,” said Colonel Hunt. “Furthermore, we will focus on implementing creative means to increase participation in base-wide activities and facilities such as the club, golf course, family support center and morale, welfare and recreation events. We will also look to strengthen our partnership with local retirees and community organizations.”
As we close out the successful term of Colonel Rottman, we transition to the leadership of a returning member of Team Scott.
“I'm excited about the opportunity to be the next 375th AW commander,” said Colonel Hunt. “There are more than 20 great tenant organizations at Scott. While we continue to be AMC's Showcase Wing, it's important to keep the warfighting focus as we partner to support the Global War on Terrorism.”
