The Secretary of Defense has  approved continued implementation of
the National Security Personnel System  for non-bargaining unit employees.
The NSPS is a new human resources  management system for DoD civilians.
It will provide a new framework of  rules, regulations and processes – rooted
in the principles of flexibility and fairness – that govern the way civilians are
hired, compensated, promoted and disciplined  in DoD.
Those serviced by the 375th Airlift  Wing’s civilian personnel office who qualify under NSPS begin implementation Oct. 1.
“In order to help make the transition  easier, the Civilian Personnel Flight is currently reviewing civilian positions’  bargaining unit status codes to ensure all ‘non-bargaining’ positions have been  identified,” said Col. Alan L. Hunt, Jr., 375th Airlift Wing commander.
To ensure that all employees converting to NSPS and their supervisors understand the new responsibilities and guidelines, there is a mandatory
two-day training course.
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the new classification, compensation, workforce shaping and performance management systems.
Sessions began Monday and will  continue through July 26, with subsequent
classes in September and October. All NSPS training sessions are held at the Community Center in building 1650 in the Education and Training Center classrooms.
Attendees must sign up to attend the NSPS training session using the community
of practice Web site at https://afkm.wpafb.af.mil/ASPs/CoP/O penCoP.asp?Filter=OO-DP-AM-07.
Because class sizes are limited, attendance is only open to military and civilian supervisors, managers who supervise non-bargaining unit employees and the non-bargaining employees themselves.
