375th SVS serves up award winners Published Jan. 25, 2007 By 2nd Lt. Karoline Scott 375 Airlift Wing Public Affairs 25/01/07 -- The 375th Services Squadron here has a lot to celebrate following last week's announcement of the annual Air Mobility Command Services award winners. Of the 35 individual and program/flight level awards that were given to services squadrons at AMC's 12 bases, the 375th SVS led the way with 10 wins. The 375th SVS individual award winners were Senior Airman Ryan Boyd, Airman of the Year; Michael Zipfel, Senior Civilian Manager of the Year, Mary Robles, Civilian Manager of the Year; Michele Converse, Senior Civilian Specialist of the Year; and Trina Biasini, Civilian Specialist of the Year. At the program/flight award level, the 375th SVS winners were the Bowling Program, the Library Program, the Consolidated/Collocated Club, Specialized Programs and the Resource Management Flight. "I'm so proud of this squadron," said Maj. Dawn Lancaster, 375th SVS commander. "Everyone works incredibly hard everyday, and it's great that they are recognized for a job well done." Major Lancaster emphasizes that the mission of the 375th SVS surrounds the needs of the base and customers. "We take pride in the activities this squadron provides to the Scott community," she said. "Our entire focus is on the customer. We constantly look at feedback, and ask people what programs they would like to see offered or improved." The purpose of the 375th SVS is to boost morale, give back to the community and support the men and women of Scott. The Stars and Strikes Bowling Center, Information Tickets and Travel, the Scott Club, the Arts and Crafts Center, the Child Development Centers, the Base Library, Outdoor Recreation, the James Sports and Fitness Centers, Mortuary Affairs and the Honor Guard are just a few of the many areas that are maintained and manned by 375th SVS personnel. "Our squadron is faced with a particularly large challenge because we not only serve 375th Airlift Wing personnel, but thousands of servicemembers and civilians from our numerous associate units, military family members and area retirees," said Major Lancaster. "It's a big responsibility, but with teamwork, we're able to successfully accomplish our mission." The award winners themselves are grateful yet humble about the recognition. "The way I was raised, you show up for work and always give 100 percent," said Airman Boyd, 375th SVS readiness apprentice and AMC Services‚ Airman of the Year. "I didn't even know I was nominated until I found out that I won," he said. "These wins were definitely a team effort. We are a close knit group, and help each other out to accomplish our missions." Airman Boyd has been with 375th SVS since 2003. He was deployed with the Army for more than eight months to Iraq in 2005. "I really got to see how important our job is while in Iraq. I bring the lessons learned while deployed with me everyday when I come to work." Another AMC-wide award winner, Mr. Zipfel, 375th SVS deputy commander, attributes his win to the entire squadron. "I'm truly honored to win an award at the AMC level," said Mr. Zipfel. "All of these wins are a reflection of the people in this squadron and their commitment to the mission, their professionalism and caring about the Air Force and the Scott community." Up next for the 375th SVS squadron is a continued commitment to excellence. "While it is wonderful to be honored with awards, we are always working to improve ourselves to ensure the needs of Team Scott are being met. Serving the community is always our number one priority."
