The current Base Recycling Center will be relocating as a Recycling Collection Area at a new location on Monday.

"The Base Recycling Center closed Wednesday to make room for the construction of a new RV storage lot at its current location," said Laura Dods, Qualified Recycling Program Manager. "The new Recycling Collection Area with customer dropoff will be located behind the 375th Civil Engineer Squadron's storage yard in the old trailer park area."

With this relocation and a revised process, glass will no longer be accepted. However, on-base residents can continue to use their weekly recycling pick-ups for glass or other recyclable items. Local communities continue to provide recycling service to their residents.

"The basic mission of base recycling remains to decrease the amount of material that is sent to landfills, maximize the sale of recyclable materials to off-set the contract cost, and generate profits to share with morale, welfare and recreation missions," said Ms. Dods.

The hours of operation at the new Recycling Collection Area will be Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4 pm effective Monday. Questions may be directed to Ms. Dods at 256-2186.

In a partnership with the local government, Scott is entering into a discussion regarding the feasibility of establishing a full service recycling center near the base for the benefit of both Scott personnel and the public sector. More details will be released as the project develops further.
