In addition to the monumental renaming of the Scott Air Force Bases dormitories, another historic event took place May 17.

Dorm residents and those who took part in the ribbon cutting ceremonies were invited to participate in the first Scott AFB Dormitory Olympics.

As pictured above the sporting event was kicked off with ceremonious torch lighting.

The first event in the days challenge was the Relay Run. This event consisted of members from each dormitory competing in a baton passing relay race. It was a close battle but Mascoutah Hall took medal.

After the first event participants moved on to various activities that included: volleyball, flag football, washers, Guitar Hero, home run derby and tug-of-war.

The winner of each event was tallied as members of the newly named halls took part in a little friendly rivalry with only one winner walking away with the coveted Dormitory Olympic Championship.

Throughout the day volunteers passed out raffle tickets to those interested for a chance to put a pie in the face of some of JTF Scott's most familiar faces; Col. Alan Hunt 375th Airlift Wing commander, Col. Bradley Spacy, 375th Mission Support Group commander and Chief Master Sgt. Carl Hunsinger, 375th AW command chief.

When the pieing was complete one last event was left, the Airman's Challenge.
This event would be the deciding factor in who was crowning the dorm champions.

After all was said and done the days honors were bestowed upon Mascoutah Hall.
