Scott Air Force Base hosted a special air show on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. for senior citizens and developmentally/physically disabled individuals.

Friday's air show offered those who would otherwise not be able to attend and enjoy the event due to the large crowds, a rare inside look at their United States military by highlighting the best and the brightest among its service men and women, as well as some of its most technologically advanced assets.

"Today's event is really a great time for all those who were able to attend," said Ernest Durnbusch, Our World Adult Day Services representative. "Last year our organization attended and had a great time so we decided to bring them back to enjoy this year's show."

Throughout the mornings event patrons were given various snacks and water from volunteer organizations.

"Today we are here volunteering our time to help those with specials needs," said Jeff Hempstead, of Mascoutah's Troop 44. "Not only did we get to help out but also had the opportunity to enjoy a great show."

Friday's festivities ended at 11 a.m., and all those who attended got a chance to enjoy a glimpse of Scott's 2007 Air Show, Heritage to Horizons.
