Retiree Appreciation Day Published Sept. 26, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Brian Butkus 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Joint Total Force Scott hosted the 22nd annual Retiree Appreciation Day Saturday at the Scott Club. Hundreds of Retirees from the local community gathered to not only be honored for their prior service but to learn more about what Scott Air Force Base has to offer. The ceremony began with words from Col. Al Hunt, 375th Airlift Wing, commander. "The traditions and experiences shared between military Retirees and those still wearing the uniform are invaluable," said colonel Hunt. "I would like to welcome newcomers and returning members as we show our appreciation for those who served our country selflessly over the years." After Colonel Hunt's words, the retirees were released to visit various informational booths and enjoy a complimentary breakfast. Base agencies provided various services and manned information booths including representatives from the base clinic. They provided health screenings and spoke about the pharmacy and dental health services. Other organizations and services represented included TRICARE, Survivors' Benefit Program, Defense Accounting Service, the Health and Wellness Center, Information, Tickets and Travel, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Commissary, the 375th AW Legal Office, the Red Cross and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Once the informational portion of the day was complete, the retirees were invited to lunch at the club. The day's events culminated with an Air Mobility Command and Scott Command history presentation.
