Scott Air Force Base, partnered with Pinnacle Reality and Hunt Construction, held an open house for the base's newest recreational facility, the Patriots Landing Community Center, Saturday.

The concept for the community center began as part of Scott Family Housing Privatization project.

Housing a fitness center, indoor pool, kitchen, meeting rooms, lounge, and a patio with a gazebo, Joint Total Force Scott residents have many new options when it comes to community gatherings.

"With only a small group of areas available for base residents to rent for gatherings available free of charge on Scott, we really hope base patrons will take advantage of this new facility," said Paula Baker, Pinnacle Housing community director. "I hope we have book clubs, scrapbookers and even families wanting a large space for parties to check us out."

As of Saturday, Pinnacle Housing is now taking reservations for residents to rent rooms in the new community center.

"Anyone interested in renting a room in the community center may stop by the Patriots Landing location and speak with a staff member there Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for available dates and times," said Mrs. Baker. "In addition to renting the rooms, we hope to host various events for residents at the community center in the upcoming months."

A second community center, currently under construction in Lincoln's Landing, is expected to be open this summer, with the same amenities as the Patriots Landing building.

"As our relationship with the Scott community grows we truly hope to increase what we have to offer our residents here," said Mrs. Baker. "The opening of the community center is only the first of what we hope will be many of the benefits we offer to base residents."
