After a year and a half, 375th Airlift Wing Vice Commander Col. Tamra Rank is moving to a new position right across the street.

Colonel Rank will remain at Scott, taking a position as the new chief of sustainment and force development for Air Mobility Command.

"I'm very happy to be staying and remaining a part of Joint Total Force Scott," Colonel Rank said. "I am looking forward to being back in personnel. People are the key to our success."

During her time as vice commander, Colonel Rank said she is most proud of the men and women of the 375th and the numerous awards they have won individually and as whole units.

"It is really remarkable and a great group effort," she said. "It has been such a pleasure to serve with so many people that have such a commitment."

As a woman in a leadership position, she said she likes to remain behind the scenes and likes being viewed as just another Colonel.

"That's how it should be," she said. "I don't think anybody treats me any differently as any other senior leader. The 375th is a very diverse, very professional organization and our strength comes from our diversity."

Scott is unique to other Air Force bases, and serving as a vice commander of a wing that hosts more than 70 associate units, 175 geographically separated units, an Air National Guard unit, an Air Force Reserve unit and multiple major commands including U.S. Transportation Command and Air Mobility Command adds challenges that many in leadership roles never experience.

"We serve a lot of masters and the bar is set high," Colonel Rank said. "They are people that have been in your position and have a lot of experience."

Colonel Rank has served in the Air Force for 25 years and plans to continue.

"From the time I was in third grade until I was a senior in high school I was planning on being a veterinarian," she said. "Then I learned about this Air Force thing. I don't regret a day of it."

Col. Steve Oliver from U.S. Transportation Command will replace Colonel Rank on May 27.
